It's hard to be stressed out when you're around Jamie Gordon. Her easy-going attitude and even-keeled temperament tend to rub off on everyone around her, making her a valuable asset to her job, her family, and the lucky organizations where she volunteers.
Trustworthy and dedicated, Jamie spends a good deal of her free time helping younger people achieve their dreams. As a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Jamie mentors a teenage girl. She says, "We like going out to lunch and to festivals on the Willamette River. I'm someone she can confide in and I really enjoy the friendship." Jamie also volunteers at the Morrison Center, an organization that works with children and their families who have experienced various types of abuse. "It's such a great organization and their work is so crucial," Jamie says.
Working with others comes naturally to Jamie, and it's her interactions with people that keep her engaged in her work as a loan officer at Rose City Mortgage. "I develop a rapport with the people I'm working with, and I want to see them get the best possible program-just like I would want for my own friends." Jamie especially loves working with first-time home-buyers because it's exciting. And her previous experience as a loan processor makes her extremely qualified to answer any question that might pop up.
When it's time to play, Jamie and her husband are passionate travelers. In 2005, they were planning to elope in Venice, Italy. Little did they know, 17 of their friends and family would end up making the trip! Their honeymoon on the island of Capri was the perfect romantic getaway...one they are planning to repeat for their five-year anniversary. Other trips in their future include France, Germany and Ireland. They love Europe "for the food, the architecture and the history."
Local travel is another favorite pastime. "Netarts is our favorite spot on the Oregon Coast. Sometimes we have the entire beach to ourselves! In the evenings, we'll light a fire and stay up late playing board games like Scrabble, Cribbage and Cards."
