Ericka Heidrick loves dancing, athletics, the arts and her kitties, but if she's known for one thing it's her big smile. And as a professional photographer, she's often coaxing one or two smiles out of her subjects. "I love to capture human emotion," she says. Ericka is the resident photographer for Insight Out Theater collective and specializes in portrait photography. Go see her work for yourself. She honed her photographer's eye as a child watching her mom paint and her sister sculpt. She was so busy playing sports growing up, it took her a while to realize that she was an artist too.

She played volleyball, basketball, track and softball in Monterey Bay, California. To this day she is one of the best rebounders to ever come out of Sonoma State University. Ericka is in love with Portland, but considers Hawaii her second home and tries to visit every year if she can. In fact, Hawaii is where she got her start in the mortgage business, working as a loan processor for a friend's business. "I'm very outgoing and gregarious," she says. A perfect fit for Rose City, a company that puts its clients first.

Ericka adds, "I am more than thrilled to be employed by such an amazing company. I don't think I could have dreamed of a better fit for me." She's a big proponent of the green lifestyle and is partnering with a green realtor and title/escrow officer as part of her business. "We have started the Green Dream Team and offer 'Green Buying 101' classes monthly," she says.

When she's not working, Ericka loves to travel. She finds you learn so much about yourself when you're immersed in another culture. She has many artist and musician friends and if she's not at last Thursday on Alberta, she's attending an art opening, play or concert. Her favorite local bands include The Gossip, The Shins, Trespassers William, Boy Eats Drum Machine and Holcombe Waller. Some consider Ericka a dancing fool. "I get really big, jump around and get crazy," she says. "Dancing is total release for me." She also loves riding her bike, camping, exploring Oregon's hot springs and watching films. Among her favorites are The Color Purple, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Pan's Labyrinth and anything by Pedro Almodovar.

Ericka would love to help other artists, musicians, greenies and members of the queer community with all their mortgage needs.
